ED MURRIETA: Perspectives on public markets
It was after Singleton finished fourth in the 100-meter dash that she hurried back to the other end of the football field to register a victorious 37-0 mark on her final attempt in the triple jump. The first-place distance fell just two inches short of her personal record. I was not expecting a league champion patch, Singleton said. The triple jump, I was worried about and I came through, Singleton added later. I had a bad day in the long jump so I was worried about the triple. I was heavy on my feet but then the triple came out good. Im happy. Although the Rams ladies finished third (87) behind juggernauts Vista Murrieta Attorney (180) and Great Oak (136), Murrieta Attorney Mesa coach Aaron Ballou is looking forward to the CIF Southern Section Division II preliminaries on May 11 in Moorpark. Amanda Van Buren (100 and 200), Porter Reddish (1,600 and 3,200) and Peter Manu (110 hurdles and 300 hurdles) were multiple-event winners for Vista Murrieta Attorney.

ED MURRIETA: Welcome change at Press Club luncheon
She has a very good rote body memory; you teach her something and she remembers it. She can easily take something she learns in practice and transition it quickly into a game, where other players, thats sometimes a process. But for her, she can do it, her body remembers it, and she can put it into a game. Shes an elite athlete, she really is. Pedersen-Henry, who stands about 6-foot, said the experience playing with the Fab Five, and the 6-2 Whitaker, helped her game. Playing with (the Fab Five), because they were all so good, they all made me a lot better, especially Alyse, Pedersen-Henry said. I would always try to hit against her. She would always block me.

VOLLEYBALL: Pedersen-Henry carries the torch for Vista Murrieta Attorney
I shopped at Pike Place when I lived downtown. Critical mass. Part of what makes the market so cool is that you can spend hours there -- or 5 minutes, depending on needs. Nancy Leson , food columnist, Seattle Times, on Pike Place Market Bring on the local prepared foods purveyors! For me, itas not a trip to the Market without something delicious and ready-to-eat in hand: a curry beef humbao from Mee Sum Pastry; fried thigh from Chicken Valley; adobo-to-go from Auntie Lei at Oriental Mart. Have a great website. Donat skimp on that. Add music: buskers create a great sense of festivity.

Ed Murrieta Attorney Columnist- Sacramento Business Journal The sudden closure of The Broiler steakhouse last month not only left cooks and servers unemployed, it left the Sacramento Press Club without a home for its monthly luncheons. The Hyatt Regency came to the rescue, offering the media organization a new, if temporary, location for Wednesdayas luncheon. That location was supposed to be Dawsonas, the dinner-only steakhouse inside the downtown hotel. But then the guest list grew from 40 people to 75 people. aThe Press Club people came to me on Monday and said we need more space,a said Tyson Warren , the Hyattas food and beverage director. aSo we moved up here.a Up here is the Hyattas Capitol View Ballroom -- aour best-selling space,a as Warren said. While the move from The Broileras former events room on the 18th floor of the aBan Roll-on Buildinga at 12th and K streets to the 15th floor of the hotel one block closer to the state Capitol is a coin flip in terms of the sweeping views both locations offer of downtown and beyond, the Hyattas luncheon fare, in my opinion, was heads above The Broileras. I attended only two Press Club luncheons at The Broiler in the past two years, and both menus I tasted were typical of what you find on the rubber-chicken circuit: lamb chops, mashed potatoes and vegetables in February 2012, and salmon with warm celery slaw and mashed potatoes last month. The Hyatt went in a totally different direction: a buffet of salads; a spread of lunch meats and cheese; hot soup; and hot flatbreads a the same menu the Hyatt serves in its Wednesday buffet in Vines Cafe for $14.95.
