MURRIETA: Man who left suspicious note at Islamic Center identified, police say September 27, 2013 by Sarah Burge CONTRIBUTED IMAGE A man has come forward to police identifying himself as the person who left an anonymous handwritten note taped to the door of the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley in Murrieta Attorney, authorities said. The note, which made reference to the militant Somali extremist group that attacked a mall in Kenya and the suicide bombing of a Christian church in Pakistan, was discovered during evening prayer Sunday, Sept. 22. Islamic Center leaders said they found the note threatening and reported it to police. Police said earlier this week that the note was suspicious and that they were investigating. Lt. Tony Conrad http://cortrightlaw.com/location/murrieta-attorney said Thursday that the note wasn't meant to alarm and that the who left it was apologetic. Even as Left Behind Games was preparing to close its doors in Murrieta Attorney, a tape was prepared for video offering testimonials of the religious-themed video game products from authors of the series, parents and Christian leaders. The business terminated its employees and closed its doors by the end of 2011, the SEC said, and the scheme in 2009 was a last ditch attempt to keep the game company afloat. The SEC complaint, filed in federal court on Sept. 24 in Hawaii, charges Lyndon and Zaucha each of whom have homes in Maui with fraud and federal securities law violations. On Wednesday, the SEC suspended the company's stock. Lyndon, the CEO of the religious-themed video game company that acquired the Charlie Church Mouse brand name and TV series from LifeLine Studios in 2010, did not respond to a written request to comment. Zaucha, reached Thursday by phone, said, Call my attorney. I have nothing to say to you. Zauchas attorney did not return a message requesting comment. The Left Behind Games website, which could not be independently verified, claims the Christian video games patterned on the popular Left Behind novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins which sold more than 65 million copies became the most widely distributed inspirational games in history.

Sanchez also hammered a two-run home run that soared far beyond the center field fence in the sixth inning. Sanchez, shortstop Stephanie Moreno, Lacey Alderman and catcher Amber Nelson were the only Nighthawks that entered the game with CIF experience. The neophytes werent overwhelmed by the challenge, either. Autumn and Amber Bishop, freshmen twin sisters, batted a combined 5-for-6 with four runs scored.

Murrieta Attorney police detectives were investigating with help from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. It was the second homicide this week for Murrieta Attorney, a town where violent crime is rare and which hadnt had a killing in two years. Spelly The players removed, washed, dried, repainted and replaced 118 wooden shelves for the food storage racks. It was a serendipitous and mutually beneficial activity. Food Pantry Manager Maria Bhanukitsiri needed to have the shelves reworked to avoid the high cost of replacing them, but she did not have the funds to have the job done or to hire the large number of workers needed for the labor-intensive job. Murrieta Attorney Mesa Booster Club President Kathy Bridges was looking for a service project for the football players to participate in order to learn the value of serving others and the community. Bridges call to Maria was a godsend. "We rely on volunteers and donations for everything," said Maria, "We started out helping three families out of our garage and have moved three times . . . this facility is 5,000 square feet and we are helping to feed 500 families each week." The wooden shelves on the racks were showing wear and tear from the thousands of cans and cartons that come in and go out each week.

Murrieta: Football Players Charged In Sex Crimes Appear In Court

MURRIETA: Football players charged with sex crimes appear in court September 17, 2013 by Sarah Burge The mother of Vista Murrieta Attorney High School football player Byron Holt, Tasha Penniman, and his Attorney Miles Clark speak to the media http://cortrightlaw.com/location/murrieta-attorney outside the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley, September, 17, 2013. Two Vista Murrieta Attorney High School football players accused of sex crimes. — FRANK BELLINO/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER The mother of a former Vista Murrieta High School football player accused of sex crimes spoke out in support of her son Tuesday, Sept. 17, after his first juvenile court hearing, saying his case differs greatly from that of a former teammate charged with rape. "It's just two different incidents," said Tasha Penniman, mother of 17-year-old Byron K. Holt Jr. "They just lumped him along with everything. He's a good kid. I just hope this doesn't hurt him … because he has such a good heart." Kishawn Tre Holmes (ANDREW FOULK/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER) Another former Vista Murrieta Attorney football player, Kishawn Tre Holmes, 17, was charged Monday with counts involving six alleged victims — two charges of forcible rape, two charges of lewd acts with a girl under 14 and three charges of false imprisonment — as well as one count of dissuading a victim from reporting a crime. Holt's attorney, Miles Clark, said the teen is charged with lewd acts with a girl under the age of 14 and unlawful sex with a minor. He said Holt is accused of having "consensual sex" with an underage girl this year. "There's no allegations whatsoever that he forced anyone to have sex with him," Clark said. "And I want to be clear about that." Prosecutors had said Monday that Holt is facing "sex-related charges" but that they could not disclose other information because of the laws governing juvenile court cases. Holt's court hearing Tuesday at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley was closed to the public. A judge ordered Holt released from Juvenile Hall under his parents' supervision, Clark said. Holt is due back in court Oct. 24. HOLMES' HEARING CLOSED In Holmes' case, because of the forcible rape charge, his juvenile court hearing was expected to be open to the public. But a judge granted a request from the prosecution — made on behalf of the victims — to declare the proceedings confidential. Holmes' attorney, Mitch Hadded, declined to comment on the case after the hearing. He said Holmes will remain in custody in Juvenile Hall, and his next hearing is set for Oct. 30. Holmes had been a star running back on the nationally ranked Vista Murrieta Attorney football team, while Holt had been a defensive lineman. Neither has been playing since around the time Murrieta Attorney police said the investigation began, on Aug. 29, and their names recently were removed from the roster. Both teens were arrested Thursday and booked into Southwest Juvenile Hall.

The judge ordered the boy facing more serious charges to be detained in juvenile hall and released the other to his parents, the attorney and spokesman said. The two defendants remained enrolled as students, but school administrators told parents that the two boys aren't allowed on campus pending the outcome of the charges against them, officials said. The alleged victims are girls, all minors, and they are still enrolled as students on campus at the Murrieta Attorney Valley Unified Schools, located outside Los Angeles, said district spokeswoman Karen Parris. CNN's policy is to not name juveniles being tried in Juvenile Court, even though prosecutors in these cases have released the boys' names. One boy appeared Tuesday in Juvenile Court to face sex-related and other charges involving a total of six alleged victims, all girls. JOAQUIN VALDEZ MURRIETA

With classes finished for the day at Vista Murrieta High School, members of the highly ranked Broncos football team counted their jumping jacks and broke off into drills, the sun gleaming off their helmets. The cross-country team sprinted by, and other students climbed into cars and buses, some lugging musical instruments. Days after two 17-year-old football players were charged with felony sex crimes involving underage victims some younger than 14 parents and students at the Murrieta campus were swift to condemn such behavior as well as defend the school. They boasted that Vista Murrieta Attorney, which has grown to 3,500 students since opening a decade ago, was the pride of the district a powerhouse in academics as well as athletics, a school parents went out of their way to get their children into. Murrieta: School District Responds To Grand Jury Report

September 12, 2013 07:11 PM PDT September 12, 2013 07:11 PM PDT MURRIETA: School district responds to grand jury report MURRIETA: School district responds to grand jury report   /FILE PHOTO Pat Kelley, superintendent of the Murrieta Attorney Valley Unified School District A Text Size Comments ( ) The Murrieta Attorney Valley Unified School District has objected to some of the findings of a Riverside County civil grand jury report that was critical of its handling of a personnel dispute, but agreed to some suggested changes, its response filed with the county court shows. In the response, written by Superintendent Pat Kelley and filed on Aug, 29, the district stated it had implemented or would implement three of the four recommendations from the grand jury report, but objected to the contention that the accused party in the dispute should immediately have been placed on administrative leave by the district, pending the outcome of the investigation. The action the district took was to give the teacher an involuntary transfer. "Each situation is handled individually," Murrieta Attorney Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Karen Parris said. "There are times that placing an employee on administrative leave is an appropriate action to take, and there are times that's not an appropriate action to take." The grand jury report released in July listed a series of findings and recommendations from its investigation into the district's handling of a dispute between two teachers at Shivela Middle School that occurred from 2009 to 2011. That report took the district to task for transferring, rather than disciplining, the accused teacher and called upon the district to develop procedures for handling such conflicts in the future. It also said the district should provide training for employees who investigate such complaints. It also recommended that the district take steps to ensure employees are aware of approved and unapproved behavior by spelling them out in the employee handbook, and that the district ensure a complainant is provided with the information necessary to file an appeal. Those were some of the recommendations the district said http://attorney-in-murrieta.com/ it has implemented or will implement. Parris said that the Board of Education will be taking up new policies and administrative actions related to employee complaints at a special meeting on Sept. 26. Riverside County Presiding Judge Mark Cope said he received the district's response, but there will be no further action. "We just file it, and that's all there is," said Cope. "There is nothing else to come from our side of it." Latest Headlines

A map indicates the locations of two incidents, where a man performed lewd acts in front of teenage girls on their way to Murrieta Attorney Valley High School in September 2013. The names of the two suspects were made public due to the nature of their alleged crimes, Hall said. KTLA is not identifying them because they are minors who have not been convicted. The first boys initial hearing set for Tuesday morning at the Southwest Justice Center is open to the public because of restrictions in the law related to the prosecution of juveniles, Hall said. The other boys hearing is closed, and the district attorneys office cannot provide further details, Hall said. The charges against the first boy include: two counts of rape by force or fear in alleged crimes against two separate victims; two counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under the age of 14, involving a third victim; three counts of false imprisonment involving three additional alleged victims; and one count of dissuading a witness who is one of the alleged rape victims. It was incredible. Early last week, Singleton was moved from the first leg to the anchor of the 400-relay team due to handoff problems with the baton. "Its kind of scary because if you mess it up, you feel bad, because you are messing it up for your whole team, Singleton said. I like it. I was really scared because it was my only second time running anchor. With her adrenaline pumping, Dargel parlayed her relay success into a momentous first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 14.60 nudged Great Oaks formidable hurdles tandem of Miller (14.74) and Martiesha Caines (14.74). I am not going to lie, Dargel said. I shed a few tears. It feels pretty good. The Cal State Northridge-commit credited her senior success to placing a renewed emphasis on hurdling, setting it as her top priority. (Last year I was) being a teenager, Dargel said.

Man detained in Murrieta bar slaying tells police he's a deputy

Spelly The suspect was taken into custody for questioning about 8 p.m. Wednesday outside Spellys Pub and Grille on Murrieta Hot Springs Road, KTLA-TV reported. When Murrieta Attorney police arrived, a man identified himself as the gunman and said he was an off-duty Riverside County deputy, the TV station reported. Murrieta: Inland Bbq Sauce Wiz To Compete On Tv

September 11, 2013 10:52 AM PDT September 11, 2013 10:52 AM PDT MURRIETA: Inland BBQ sauce wiz to compete on TV MURRIETA: Inland BBQ sauce wiz to compete on TV JEFF PACK/CONTRIBUTED IMAGE Xiomara Hall, right, will appear on Thursday night's episode of "Supermarket Superstar" on Lifetime Television. A Text Size Comments ( ) On Thursday night, America will find out if Xiomara Hall has what it takes to change the way we eat food and shop. Hall, owner of Tropical BBQ in Murrieta Attorney, will appear on Lifetime Television's "Supermarket Superstar," in the BBQ sauce episode. The show intends to give undiscovered food entrepreneurs a chance to find a place with the big brands. Each one-hour episode follows three home chefs as they pitch their product concepts for the opportunity to have their creation launched nationally in a major grocery chain. Chef, vintner, TV host and specialty foods pioneer Michael Chiarello, cookie mogul Debbi Fields of Mrs. Fields Cookies, and branding expert and food product visionary Chris Cornyn serve as the series' mentors. The show, which will air at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, on Lifetime is hosted by Stacy Keibler. For Hall, it is an opportunity to put her flavor into the marketplace. "The show is for people that have these home recipes and don't have the funding to get them on the market," she said. "There are nine different episodes with nine categories and every show, someone will win $10,000 seed money and $100,000 in marketing money. That right, there is such a push for someone like me that doesn't have a lot of experience in the marketing world." If she wins in this episode, she will be in the running to win the grand prize, by battling it out with the other winners to actually have her product processed entirely and put onto the shelves of a major supermarket in the Northeast. So, any hints on how Wednesday's competition will turn out? "I can't tell you, you know that," she said. "I gave it my best, how about that? We will be having a viewing party at Wilson Creek Vineyard and Winery to celebrate, it should be a good time and I can't wait to see how it turns out." Murrieta: City To Acquire Towering Old Mill Through Donation

City of Murrieta Attorney May Revamp Holiday Festivities

It was boarded up in 1991 in a bid to thwart vandals. To preserve its history, the city began talking several years ago with late property owner Lu Tung about possibly giving it to the city, Koleks staff report states. Tung died before discussions concluded. Wellington Loh Jr., Tungs grandson, later agreed to the transfer. But Tungs properties had to go through probate, the report stated. Title issues have since been resolved.

Whether it should start at Kalmia Street or Ivy Street, and whether it should run the length between, has been a recurring question. In past years, there have been craft and vendor fairs along Washington as part of the event, as well as a tree lighting. Connie McConnell, president of the Historic Downtown Merchant Association, approached City Council about the matter. We would really like to see it stay on Washington and go all the way if that is at all possible, McConnell said, adding that HDMA has always participated and that the parade is one thing Murrieta does different. Other holiday options such as allowing motorized floats in the parade or arranging for an ice-skating rink at Town Square were also discussed. Last year, the city held a snow event at Town Square complemented by food cooked by the Murrieta Attorney Firefighters Association. It was recommended to continue other Holiday Magic activities, such as the Santa visits to neighborhoods to collect food and toy donations, the citys holiday home decorating contest and Letters from Santa. No decisions were made during the meeting. Mayor Rick Gibbs said if there were to be changes they would need to happen soon to allow sufficient time for planning and advertising. "We need to do this fairly quickly and get this back to Council, Gibbs said, noting the Veterans Day parade , which is always well-attended, is set to occur just two weeks prior to the push-cart parade.

It would also add 2,605 temporary construction jobs and 4,500 permanent jobs to the local economy. Residents Express Support Several Murrieta residents got a chance to speak during the public meeting, many of whom have lived in the area for decades and were happy to hear of the revived plans. I have lived here since the early 1980s, and Murrieta Attorney had nothing, said Rhonda Schafer. So I know Murrieta would be proud to have something like this. I am just here in complete support of it and I hope that you do consider it. Former State Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth, who resides in Murrieta Attorney, urged the city to work cooperatively with the developer. All of us really want to see this key piece of property developed into something that is a real anchor, Hollingsworth said. He asked them, as commissioners, to take a very good look at the things they are proposing. The main point is to make this project as marketable as we can, Hollingsworth said.

Murrieta: Successful Local Packaging Company Launches Baggage Line

September 04, 2013 04:22 PM PDT September 04, 2013 09:55 PM PDT MURRIETA: Successful local packaging company launches baggage line MURRIETA: Successful local packaging company launches baggage line LAURIE LUCAS/STAFF PHOTO Julie Annet and her husband, Jean-Luc Annett, started a second online business a year ago selling bags, totes and luggage specially designed for the high-tech traveler's equipment. The Sparrow garment bag retails for $399. Behind Julie are some of the packaging they've helped create for customers in their other business, Global Link Sourcing. 1 WEBLINK California Wine Country Weekend Getaway and Giveaway, including ECBC travel set Global Sourcing, Inc. and Evolve Cases and Bags of California in Murrieta Attorney After launching a prosperous packaging business seven years ago, a Temecula Valley couple has another startup in the bag. In fact, their newest online company sells bags — as well as computer sleeves, backpacks and totes —customized with separate padded and protective compartments for electronic paraphernalia. Globe trotters Julie and Jean-Luc Annet wearied of wasting time in airport lines as they fumbled with their laptops, tablets, smartphones and other high-tech gizmos. They discovered a missing niche in the luggage market: affordable, durable products, designed and organized to expedite security clearance. So the Annets invested $1.5 million inventing their own line, called ECBC (Evolve Cases and Bags of California), ranging from $29.99 totes to $399.99 garment bags sold at EC-BC.com via Amazon. The rolling luggage even comes with a battery back-up pack compatible with most devices to spare travelers from hunting for an airport plug. There's also a FastPass system to let travelers glide quicker through security. That is a Traffic Safety Administration-compliant front zippered flap for all electronic gear. When unzipped, it lies down flat through security scanners while keeping the gizmos securely housed into the high-density foam compartments "It was a leap of faith," Julie Annet said of the venture she and her husband started in August 2012. "We have a ton of inventory," she said during an interview at their Murrieta Attorney headquarters for both companies. Annet, 43, gestured at stacks of boxes in the warehouse. "Now all we need are purchase orders." She and Jean-Luc, 51, are still pumping money into EC-BC in hopes of breaking even after at least two years of operation. "Building a new brand is difficult," Julie said. "We're gaining momentum on Amazon, though." Testimonials are beginning to trickle in on their website,www.ec-bc.com. Wrote Brad Denbo, owner of ExceliNet Computer Services in Murrieta Attorney: "I've never had another messenger-style bag last me more than six months. The zippers or the strap always breaks on me. This one has been great for the last six months and shows no sign of wear so far. Thanks." Although close to 90 percent of startups puncture the dreams and ambitions of entrepreneurs and fail, the Annets have tasted success with their first startup, a custom packaging company that grossed $8 million last year. The Belgian-born Jean-Luc and the Nebraskan-born Julie met in Vegas where she worked in real estate and he was in sales. They married and moved to the Temecula Valley to be closer to Jean-Luc's job with the Southern California-based packaging company. But when Jean-Luc wasn't paid for five months, the Annets were forced to dip into their savings to survive. "We always wanted to be entrepreneurs," Julie recalls. (Jean-Luc was in China on business and unavailable for an interview.) "We decided to get a loan, take a chance and roll the dice." It was more than luck, however, that has made their packaging business a wrap. The Annets launched Global Link Sourcing in 2006 after signing on former clients with whom Jean-Luc had built a rapport. In this highly specialized market, the Annets orchestrate the process of turning out stylish, one-of-a-kind package components. As troubleshooters, they oversee everything from concept to delivery. Now with more than 40 customers on board, the Annets work with mostly with manufacturers in Asia, India and Costa Rica. "We aren't talking about brown boxes with peanuts and bubble wrap," Julie said of the innovative metal tins, printed paper folding cartons and clear and plastic containers they've helped design. Bound by confidentiality agreements, the Annets aren't allowed to disclose their customers, but said that the company expects revenues to top $9 million by the end of 2013. "Jean-Luc works, lives and breathes customer service," Julie said. Global, which employs six people, is headquartered at 41690 Corporate Center. the ideal location, the Annets figured, to start a second company. "We wanted to own and control the products," Julie said. "We also saw a lot of gaps in the functionality and affordability of bags for the modern traveler and students. Two years ago the Annets contracted with Dan Curtiss, a Boulder-based industrial designer for many leading baggage companies, to develop a reasonably priced, high-quality line for them. "We wanted products you don't have to replace after 10 trips," Julie said. The bags are manufactured in Vietnam from a nearly indestructible fabric that's made in Korea. After a $30,000 setback — the Annets were forced to change the company's original name, Evolve, after an industry luggage giant threatened legal action — ECBC was off and rolling into the hands of customers. Ryan Garguilo, a trip-planner and founder of travel blog, Pause the Moment, wrote: "The ECBC Javelin is hands down the best daypack I've ever traveled with…" The Annets are confident that their brand will gain recognition and traction. "We know that more online purchasing is the trend," Julie said. "We're taking it step by step with ECBC, one rung at a time." Young Murrieta Valley Team Unfazed By Cif Experience

MURRIETA: RCTC project would close I-215 interchange gap

Sanchez, shortstop Stephanie Moreno, Lacey Alderman and catcher Amber Nelson were the only Nighthawks that entered the game with CIF experience. The neophytes werent overwhelmed by the challenge, either. Autumn and Amber Bishop, freshmen twin sisters, batted a combined 5-for-6 with four runs scored. While Murrieta Attorney Valleys lineup is loaded with future Division I talent such as Moreno (Valparaiso) and Alderman (Long Beach State), it was No. 8 hitter Nicole Sims that swung the loudest stick against Upland. Sims went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a stolen base. Sims three-run home run in the fifth inning broke open a close game in which the Nighthawks led 3-1 at the time. Sims, a sophomore playing her first CIF game, confided with older brothers and former Vista Murrieta baseball players Ronnie and Bruce about handling the pressure that a postseason game brings.

And I think we owe it to the folks that live here in Murrieta Attorney and north not to impede them as they move from their workplace in San Diego to home. As far as local traffic, entrances would be from Murrieta Hot Springs at Monroe and Hancock avenues. There would be another entrance constructed from Murrieta Attorney Hot Springs, between Monroe and Hancock, along with an internal roadway that winds through the site. City staff said freeway traffic was ultimately under the jurisdiction of Caltrans, which is why the city entered a clause within the EIR stating overriding considerations located within the area bounded by Interstates 15 and 215 and south of Murrieta Attorney Hot Springs Road. The actual movement on the freeway is Caltrans responsibility, we cant make Caltrans do anything, said Interim City Engineer Bob Moehling. Our Council has been great as far as getting our interchanges completed. Moehling noted the city has had a positive track record when working with Caltrans in recent years on interchange projects. In other concerns brought up by staff, they recommended against electronic billboards, drive-throughs, gas stations and warehouse retail stores proposed by the developer. That sort of detracts from what we are trying to create here, said Commissioner Ruthanne Taylor-Berger, about warehouse retail stores. Commissioner Steven DeGrave was not enthused about the prospect of fast food drive-throughs at The Triangle. I ran a national a fast food restaurant in one of my careers, DeGrave said.

But if you open it up all at once, it's going to be a breath of fresh air for the traveling public in that area, said Jason Bennecke, project manager for Caltrans in San Bernardino, in a telephone interview on Wednesday. Caltrans is spearheading the project. More than 45,000 vehicles daily travel across the southbound bridge, Caltrans officials say. For now, Bennecke said, plans call for adding the third lane on the inside, or left side, of the bridge. Rolling south across the envisioned three-lane bridge, drivers on the left would have to merge onto I-15 while those on the right would have to exit at French Valley or Winchester. Bennecke said motorists in the middle could go either direction. John Standiford, deputy executive director for the transportation commission, said estimates peg the construction cost at $7 million to $10 million.

Murrieta: Construction Underway On Jackson Avenue Bridge

September 05, 2013 01:10 PM PDT September 05, 2013 05:04 PM PDT MURRIETA: Construction underway on Jackson Avenue bridge MURRIETA: Construction underway on Jackson Avenue bridge FRANK BELLINO/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER Construction crews clear dirt for the new Jackson Avenue bridge over Warm Springs Creek in Murrieta Attorney, September, 05, 2013. 1 INTERACTIVE MAP: Jackson Avenue bridge in Murrieta Attorney Murrieta is building a bridge on the street to nowhere. Finally. Construction workers are clearing a path in Warm Springs Creek for concrete footings that will support a bridge linking Murrieta's Jackson Avenue with Temecula's Ynez Road. To be completed next summer, the long-desired connection will make it easier for people to shop, drive to work and take children to school, officials say. And it will increase travel options for emergency vehicles. Though the bridge is something Murrieta Attorney and Temecula officials have talked about since the mid-1990s, Murrieta Attorney Mayor Rick Gibbs said the issue hit home after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. He said there was talk about the need for a transportation system capable of evacuating an entire city, if necessary, during a disaster. View Jackson Street bridge project in a larger map "You might as well throw up your hands," he said. "That's not going to happen." But he said local officials can increase options. "The more corridors you have, the better the chance that one of them is going to survive," Gibbs said. For now, there aren't many connecting the neighboring cities. Besides Interstate 15, there is Jefferson Avenue on the west, and Margarita and Winchester roads on the east. Jackson Avenue ends south of the Sam's Club shopping center. But that's changing. Jeff Hitch, Murrieta public works construction manager, said work began Tuesday, Sept. 3, on the $5.1 million project to erect a bridge and build a mile of road. The contractor is Alabbasi Construction and Engineering of Riverside. "Everything's full steam ahead," Hitch said. "We're trying to get the bridge built ahead of the rains. Hopefully the rains don't come early." Once the span over the creek is in, workers will complete the roadway south to Ynez and north to Jackson. Opening is anticipated in June 2014, Hitch said. As part of the project, a section of Jackson will be improved. About a half-mile south of Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Jackson narrows to a 22-foot-wide slab of pavement that follows the up-and-down contour of rolling hills. In its place, construction workers will deliver a 76-foot-wide, four-lane road with left-turn pockets and bicycle lanes. Erik Kitley, owner of Temecula Valley RV at the south end of Jackson, said Wednesday he is glad to see dirt being moved. He moved his business from Old Town Temecula seven years ago -- at a cost of $7 million -- in anticipation of Jackson and Ynez being tied together. "We nestled in this hole because we thought a road was going through," Kitley said. "Obviously, I have wanted this for a long time." Latest Headlines

City Of Murrieta May Revamp Holiday Festivities

Murrieta Attorney Mesa begins season with win over Jurupa Hills

The city has traditionally held a push-cart parade in early December to kick off its nearly monthlong Holiday Magic festivities. Due to shrinking community participation during the last few years, however, city officials are discussing other ways to liven up the season. This could include bringing a tree-lighting festival to Town Square Park. Council members Randon Lane and Alan Long have been serving on a subcommittee that has involved meeting with Community Services Department staff, members of community groups and churches. Staff presented the results of those discussions to the entire City Council during its Aug. 6 meeting. Suggestions include a day of activities in Town Square Park culminating in a tree-lighting ceremony, kids craft area, face painting, pictures with Santa Claus, performances by local choirs, food vendors and a crafters village, according to Lea Kolek, community services manager for the City of Murrieta Attorney.

Spartan quarterback Damion Wright completed 20 of 45 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns against a Rams defense that were missing their star linebacker, Woodward. Coach Schaeffer named Castro and Mateo Thompson as co-players of the game. "Danny came in for an injured Chandler Woodward at running back and had 12 carries for 52 yards with a TD and caught 3 passes for 22 yards," said Schaeffer. "Mateo was 6/6 on PATs and had a huge fourth quarter 32 yard field goal for us." The Ram defense had outstanding performances from defensive back Billy Montoya Bridges, and the d-line consisting of Wesley Scott, Nick Tejada, Bryson and Tommy McCraw. "The defense played very well," said Castro. "They contained their quarterback who was their main offensive threat. They held him to minimum rushing yards." The Bulldogs look tougher than last years team that was blown away 35-12 by Murrieta Attorney Mesa. The team has dramatically improved.
